Norton Straw presents at Offshore Technology Conference 2019

Norton Straw presented development work in the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for design and operation of produced water separation systems at the 50th Offshore Technology Conference in Houston on May 8 2019.

Matt Straw presented a paper titled "Practical Method for Simulating Flotation in Produced Water Systems" co-authored with David Field & Ed Kay from Norton Straw and Prof Simon Lo and Thomas Eppinger from Siemens Industrial Software.  The paper focuses on multiphase flow simulation in separation of oil from water generated through hydrocarbon production and specifically introduces a novel approach of predicting complex coalescence processes used to improve oil removal in gas flotation.

The paper demonstrates how Norton Straw helps its clients design and operate complex engineering systems using simulation techniques such as Computational Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis and other mathetical modelling approaches of real-world behaviours.
