At Norton Straw, we provide specialist engineering simulation, design and consultancy support to clients across many industries, both in the UK and internationally.  

With year on year sustainable and significant growth over the last five years we are looking to bring onboard an ambitious business manager.  

You will oversee our existing clients relationships and be responsible for a number of business sectors that may include nuclear, chemical process, oil and gas, or transport. Your main objective will be to identify, create and develop new growth opportunities to help maintain and exceed our continued growth.

  • Enjoy client interaction and taking responsibility for delivering engineering modelling and simulation projects; 
  • Are enthusiastic about engineering, and informed about how their industry sector is going to evolve; 
  • Like a challenge, are flexible thinkers and are not intimidated by unfamiliar problems; 
  • Enjoy problem solving and are looking to work directly with clients to really understand their issues and provide them with practical solutions; 
  • Are looking to be challenged by new technical areas and industries; 
  • Can demonstrate that they have delivered relevant engineering and technology services; 
  • Want the opportunity to work within a growing and dynamic engineering team 

This job will require you to: 

  • Take responsibility for oversight of our business development strategy across multiple sectors 
  • Own the generation of new sales and deliver on key strategic opportunities; 
  • Develop trust and relationships with clients across all sectors 
  • Manage the contribution of technical team members to the business generation process, such as client meetings, conference attendance, and proposal preparation; 
  • Identify future growth opportunities and develop and execute plans to capitalise upon them; 
  • Develop and maintain key client relationships; 
  • Maintain a deep understanding of engineering developments and industry trends in your sector; 
  • Identify and enable the development of new technical skills and research activities that will lead to accelerated growth. 

To be considered you will need:  

  • Demonstrable experience of and expertise in generating new business in engineering analysis and simulation in a consultancy environment; 
  • An understanding of, and an aptitude for, building client relationships and generating consultancy activities and business.
