At Norton Straw, we provide specialist engineering, simulation and consultancy support to our clients across many industries, both in the UK and internationally.  Our work relies on using high performance computers, effective management of data and flexibility of our computer systems to meet customer needs.

Thanks to sustained growth in demand of our services, we are now looking for an IT Specialist.

We are looking for people who:

  • Can provide support and direction across a range of IT needs in a growing and evolving business
  • Will take responsibility and ownership of their own tasks and enjoy team interaction
  • Would like a technical challenge and aren’t intimidated by unfamiliar problems
  • Would relish the opportunity to work within a flourishing and dynamic team

Essential Experience/requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years or equivalent Windows and Linux technical support.
  • Significant knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Office 365, including Exchange, Office,  Teams and SharePoint
    • Data backup solutions and backup procedures in data heavy environments
    • Networking management, upgrades and VPN solutions
    • Managing and upgrading enterprise server hardware
    • Hypervisors such as Hyper-V or VMware
    • Endpoint Protection and patching solutions
  • Analytical skills necessary to troubleshoot user problems and determine user needs and system requirements or hardware issues.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours to facilitate operational maintenance

Desirable Skills

  • Experience implementing policies and using Mirosoft 365 security & compliance centre.
  • Previous experience working to cyber security compliance standards
  • Familiar with distributed computing/HPCs
  • Working knowledge of software licensing systems.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Automate, Windows Scripting, Bash scripting and APIs
