Dr Matt Straw, Managing Director at Norton Straw, has been invited to present to undergraduates as part of Nottingham Trent University’s Welcome 2020 week, later in September. The session Matt has been invited to present a guest talk in a session called ‘Inspirations from the industry’.
Matt commented that “I have been asked to give a talk that is ‘inspiring, fun and full of wisdom’…No pressure then! Someone clearly had not attended one of my talks on fluid dynamics or thermal management before inviting me!” He continued, as he usually does, “I will definitely share some of the fantastic experiences and opportunities a career in engineering has offered me in the 20 years since leaving university in Nottingham, I cannot guarantee wisdom but will certainly try to make it fun!”
The engineering department at Nottingham Trent University only launched in 2017 and already has around 400 students; which is impressive growth.
Along with mechanical and electronic engineering, engineering degrees in the bio-medical and sports show how engineering is evolving as a discipline; something we at Norton Straw Consultants are focussed on too we continue to grow the range of industries we are involved in. I am sure Matt will talk about our diverse engineering and technology work during his talk.
It will certainly be a different start for all students going to university in autumn 2020 and all of us at Norton Straw wish them all the very best. Seeing, and hearing of, the plans being made at Nottingham Trent University, it sound like their students will not be disappointed!
